About Grayson County
The county, which consists of just over 500 acres is located in the north central part of Kentucky, which makes it easily accessible from most all of the larger cities. Louisville is just 77 miles northeast and Nashville, Tennessee is only 129 to the south of Grayson County. You can be in Bowling Green or Owensboro in less than an hour.
Grayson County has a population of just over 24,000, making it a great place "get away" from the big city to visit or raise a family. Although the county is considered rural, it provides many of the comforts found in larger cities. The Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center offers top of the line medical services including a new dialysis treatment center.
Leitchfield, the county seat provides the area with most of the industrial activity. Other cities in Grayson County include Clarkson and Caneyville, and each has their own opportunities to offer.
In addition, one is never at a loss when it comes to recreation. Whether you are looking for a place to fish, swim, or just kick back and enjoy some of the best bluegrass music around, you will find it in our county. The county is surrounded by two lakes, Nolin Lake and Rough River State Park. Do you like to golf? Grayson County is home to two beautiful 18-hole golf courses, LaFayette Golf Course at Rough River and Lakeview Golf Course in Leitchfield. Festivals and fairs can be attended all throughout the year. Grayson County hosts two state festivals, The Kentucky Old Timer Fiddler’s Contest in July and the HoneyFest in October. Our motto, "Schedule it and they will attend" has always allowed us to draw in crowds from everywhere.
